Uses
Visual arts : Fine arts, frescoes, glazing, painting.
Decoration : Limewash, coatings, waxes, plasters, cements.
Specific applications : Swedish paint, ceramics.
Preparation and mixing
Linseed Oil : Dilute the powder in a small amount of turpentine before incorporating it into the oil for a smooth texture.
Water-based paint or lime paste : Dissolve the pigment in a little water to obtain a fluid consistency before adding it to the preparation.
Powdered lime, cement, plaster : Add directly up to 10% of the binder weight, mixing thoroughly for uniform coloring.
Artistic paint : Grind finely in a mortar before mixing with the binder for optimal results.
Dosage
Recommendation : Maximum 10% of the binder weight. Beyond this, use fixatives or additives (particularly for lime).
Example : In a lime wash (Badisof Plus type), incorporate 50 g of pigment per kg (5%) for a subtle tint, or 200 g per kg (20%) for a more intense effect.
Colors
Orange-red with a clear binder. With a white binder, you get a light apricot shade.
Advice
Lightening : To soften the shade, mix with Tiona White before incorporating into a transparent binder (linseed oil, wax, acrylic binder).
Variable rendering : The final color may vary depending on the titanium dioxide (white pigment) content in the base used.
Origin and composition
Production : Produced in France, in Apt in the Vaucluse region, this 100% natural pigment is exclusive to Provençal ochres.
History : The only orange shade to come from the Vaucluse quarries, Havana Ochre is carefully crafted to capture the warm, earthy essence of the region, ideal for traditional applications such as flour paint or decorative coatings.
